Linear
BackupLatte is preparing to launch. Account creation and backups are not available yet. Join the waitlist for updates.
Connect a Linear workspace
BackupLatte connects to Linear through Linear's OAuth: you approve access on Linear's own page, and BackupLatte never sees your Linear password. One BackupLatte account can connect any number of workspaces; each is backed up on its own schedule.
Connect
- In Linear, open the workspace you want to connect. Linear connects the workspace you have open, so if you belong to several, switch first: click the workspace name at the top left → Switch workspace (or press O, then W).
- In BackupLatte, go to Workspaces and choose Connect Linear, or Connect another workspace if you already have one.
- Linear shows the access BackupLatte asks for. Check that the workspace named there is the right one, then choose Authorize.
- You land back in BackupLatte with the workspace connected. Its first backup runs within the hour.
Linear always shows the approval screen, even for a workspace you connected before, so you can see which workspace is being connected every time.
Which Linear account to connect with
A backup contains what the connecting Linear user can see. Private teams that user is not a member of are not included, and neither are other people's personal items. Connect as a workspace admin who is a member of every team you want backed up. Extended coverage needs an admin in any case.
Access BackupLatte asks for
| Access | Why |
|---|---|
read | To back up the workspace. |
write | Only for restores you start: creating the restored records in Linear. |
admin | Only with extended coverage: reading the audit log, invitations, workspace settings, integrations and webhooks. |
The access tokens Linear issues are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM). Linear access tokens expire after about a day; BackupLatte renews them automatically before each use.
Extended coverage
Some workspace data is only readable with Linear's admin access: the audit log, pending invitations, workspace settings, integrations and webhooks. BackupLatte never stores the credentials, webhook URLs or secrets of integrations and webhooks.
To turn it on:
- Open the workspace in BackupLatte, tick Extended coverage in Settings and choose Save settings.
- Choose Reconnect with admin access and approve the new access in Linear, as a Linear admin.
Until Linear grants admin access, backups carry on without these sets and list them as gaps.
Several workspaces
Each workspace you connect appears under Workspaces with its own schedule, retention and backups. Search by name or key, filter by connection status or by how the last backup went, and switch between tiles and a table.
All connected workspaces count toward one plan: see Plans and billing.
Reconnect
If Linear revokes BackupLatte's access (for example, someone removed the app in Linear's settings), backups of that workspace fail and ask you to reconnect it. Connect the same workspace again — open it in Linear first — with the same Linear account, and it is reactivated with fresh access. Its existing backups stay.
Disconnect and delete
In the workspace's Settings:
- Disconnect stops scheduled backups and deletes BackupLatte's copy of the Linear access token. Jobs still queued for the workspace are marked failed. Existing snapshots stay until retention deletes them, and can still be downloaded — and restored into another connected workspace. You can reconnect at any time.
- Delete workspace removes the workspace with every backup and restore record, and its stored files. This cannot be undone. See Deleting your data.
You can also remove BackupLatte from Linear itself, in Linear's settings under the applications you have authorised; its backups then fail until you reconnect it.
