Troubleshooting

Common problems and how to solve them. If yours is not here, write to [email protected] with the workspace name and, for a backup or restore, its date.

Connecting

Linear connected the wrong workspace

Linear connects the workspace you have open in Linear, not the one you meant. In Linear, click the workspace name at the top left → Switch workspace → the right workspace (or press O, then W). Then connect again in BackupLatte and check the workspace name on Linear's approval screen. The workspace connected by mistake can be disconnected or deleted in its Settings.

"Linear connection failed"

"Extended coverage is on, but Linear has not granted admin access"

The connection was approved by someone without Linear admin rights, or before extended coverage was turned on. Choose Reconnect with admin access and approve it as a Linear admin. Until then, backups continue without the admin sets and list them as gaps.

Backups

A backup is Partial (with gaps)

Open Download… on the backup: the incomplete sets are listed with the reason. The usual ones:

Everything complete in a partial backup can be downloaded and restored.

A backup failed

The reason is shown in the backup's row.

If the same error repeats, write to support.

Run backup now is disabled

Hover over the button for the reason:

The dashboard shows Overdue

A scheduled backup is more than an hour late. Scheduled backups do not run without an active plan, so check Billing first. If your plan is active, write to support.

Restores

The workspace I want to restore into is not listed

Only connected, active workspaces of your account are listed, the first 100 of them. Connect it with Connect a workspace and restore — the restore then starts when you come back. See Restore into a new workspace.

"Linear connected the backed-up workspace itself"

You were in the backed-up workspace when you approved in Linear. Switch to the target workspace in Linear, then choose Connect a workspace and restore again. To restore what is missing in the backed-up workspace itself, choose This workspace instead.

"This backup has no teams or workflow states to rebuild the teams from"

The backup could not collect its teams or workflow states, which a restore into another workspace needs. Restore a different backup, or restore into the backed-up workspace itself.

A restore failed

Open it under Restores, read the error, fix the cause if there is one (for example reconnect the target), then choose Resume restore. It continues where it stopped and never creates a record twice.

Some sets say Not in the target

The target workspace's Linear plan does not offer them (for example customers or cycles on some plans), or allows no more teams. Upgrade the target's plan in Linear, then restore the same backup into it again: records already restored are recognised and not copied twice, so only what was missing is added.

Issues have no assignee after a restore

People are matched by email to active members of the target. Someone who is not a member of the target when the restore runs is left out. Invite the people to the target workspace in Linear before restoring.

Downloads

Download links expire after 15 minutes. Close and reopen the Download… panel for a fresh link. A prepared ZIP itself is kept for 7 days; after that, choose Prepare ZIP again.
