Retention

Retention decides how long snapshots are kept. Set it per workspace under Settings → Retention days: any whole number from 1 to 365. New workspaces keep snapshots for 7 days.

How cleanup works

Once a day, at 03:00 UTC, BackupLatte deletes every finished backup — successful, partial or failed — created more than the retention period ago.

• A backup that is still running is never deleted.
• A snapshot used by a restore that is waiting or running is left alone and deleted at a later cleanup, once the restore has finished.
• If storage is unavailable, the deletion is retried at the next cleanup.

Deletion therefore happens on or after the end of the retention period, never before it.

Files

Files copied from Linear are shared between snapshots of a workspace. A file is deleted when no remaining snapshot links to it.

Downloads

A prepared ZIP of a snapshot is kept for 7 days, but never beyond the day the snapshot itself expires. While a snapshot is being deleted it can no longer be downloaded or restored.

Choosing a retention period

A longer retention gives you more points in time to go back to, and uses more storage. Snapshots of an unchanged workspace mostly repeat the same data, while files are stored only once, so storage grows roughly with the size of the workspace's data times the number of snapshots you keep.
