Scheduled and manual backups

Every connected workspace is backed up once a day at the hour you choose. On top of that you can start one backup yourself every 24 hours.

The daily backup

The line under Backups shows the schedule, when the next backup runs (in your local time) and the retention period.

Run backup now

Run backup now queues a backup straight away, unless a backup of the workspace is already waiting or running. The limit is one manual backup per workspace every 24 hours; a manual backup that fails does not count, so you can try again. While the limit applies, the button is disabled and says when the next manual backup is available. The daily backup runs as usual either way.

When backups do not run

No new backups — scheduled or manual — run while:

Existing backups stay available to download in both cases.

If a backup fails

A backup that hits an error is retried automatically, up to three attempts in all. If it still fails, it is marked Failed with the reason in its row, the workspace appears under Needs attention on the dashboard, and you get an email. The next daily backup runs as usual. Common reasons and fixes are in Troubleshooting.
